Teaching Experience

I have had a wide variety of teaching experience. Whilst at Adelaide University as an undergraduate I also attended Adelaide Teachers College and had I not gone on to carry out research I would have spent a fifth year at Adelaide University obtaining a professional teaching qualification. Part of the preparation for that involved about 8 weeks teaching practice each year in local schools during the four years of my undergraduate degree.

At Cambridge as a graduate and Oxford as a post-doc I was involved in the supervision of undergraduates, in Cambridge of Natural Sciences tripos students, and at Oxford of Engineering students.

At Bristol I lectured to first and third year undergraduates and postgraduate students as well as undertaking normal tutorial, examination and administrative duties.

I have supervised a number of graduate students, including: Kyra Stephanoff, Simon Bittleston, Bruce Deblois, Ken Badcock, Michael Drexler, Ercilia Sousa, Richard Gilpin, Matt Hardy, Abigail Wacher, Wynn Tee, Dick Kachuma, Almut Eisentraeger (all Ph.D. or D.Phil), I. Frigaard, S. Tagashira, Y. Uchibori, D. Kachuma, A. Smillie, Benedikt Wirth (all M.Sc.) as well as a number of final year undergraduate projects for a degree in Engineering and Computing Science.

My teaching at Oxford has included course development, lecturing to mathematics and engineering students and acting as a tutorial fellow in engineering. Previous courses taught at Oxford include:

Mathematics Engineering Engineering & Computing Science M.Sc in Mathematical Modelling & Numerical Analysis M.Sc. in Computation
